Mercy
Inspiration found longtime Habitat board member Kevin Kessinger on the way home. “In 2007, the board met in Guatemala, and at that meeting, we all received a small book which Habitat CEO Jonathan Reckford had written. On the flight back, I read that his favorite verse was from Micah 6:8, and it was printed there on the page.
“As I read the passage, it immediately sounded like a chorus to a song. So in a moment of enlightenment (which was never experienced before or since), I took out a piece of paper and essentially wrote the song as it is now. When I got home, I picked up my guitar, and in a matter of just a few minutes was picking out the melody and playing the song.
“Over the years, I have played it for myself and for family and have tried to change or improve it, but it always seems to come out the same way.”
He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?
