Homeowner Marquitta Smith and her three children will soon live in a Habitat house, thanks to a whole team of partners. This spring — like other homeowners in Dallas, Los Angeles, Pensacola, Fla., and Milwaukee — Smith built alongside Habitat for Humanity AmeriCorps National and VISTA members during Habitat’s annual AmeriCorps Build-a-Thon. Habitat has partnered with the Corporation for National and Community Service to involve AmeriCorps members in Habitat's work since 1994. Last year, 700 Habitat AmeriCorps members helped 3,000 families in more than 200 U.S. communities.

The Smith family proudly sports a local logo; their house was one of those sponsored by The Milwaukee Brewers Community Foundation and Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun.
