BUILDER magazine named Habitat for Humanity the sixth-largest homebuilder in the United States in 2011. The publication, which covers the residential construction industry, first ranked Habitat in 2009. Habitat placed eighth that year and has come in at No. 6 the past two years. Habitat built or rehabilitated 4,970 U.S. homes last year and is the only nonprofit in BUILDER’s top 10. Adding repairs and weatherization projects, Habitat’s U.S. affiliates served 9,098 families in 2011.
